Guide Roller & Guide Wheel

The guide roller (guide wheel) is a major consumable part on bar and wire rolling equipment in the steel industry. During rolling it guides the red-hot steel smoothly into the groove, preventing wrapping and tail-flipping, acting as a guiding and clamping element. At high-speed wire rolling of 110 m/s, the guide roller speed exceeds 50,000 rpm with a surface temperature of 800–1100°C, subject to physical impact and stress, requiring high acceleration performance. Contact with the work piece tends to cause metal buildup on its surface.

The cemented-carbide high-speed finishing guide roller and guide wheel, also known as the roll guide wheel and roll guide-positioning wheel, is an indispensable component for wire export during wire-rod rolling in steel mills. It requires high hardness, good wear resistance (service life matched with high-quality bearings), good thermal conductivity and a certain degree of red hardness.
